Current Limitations and What We Are Improving

Progress reports that only contain wins are advertisements. This one is a working list of the things in our current prototypes that fall short of our own targets, and what is being done about each.

Speakers — Reference One

Port chuffing at high levels. The current tuning trades extension for airflow speed more than we want. A larger-radius port flare and a small volume increase are being simulated now.

Vertical lobing above the crossover. With the drivers on a flat baffle, the off-vertical response dips earlier than we like. Options on the table: baffle step, driver offset, or accepting it and documenting it — the measurement archive will show whichever we choose.

Amplifier — Amp One

Heat distribution at idle. The bias point we prefer puts more heat into the left channel’s heatsink than the right. Mechanical fix in progress; no performance impact, but a production product should be boring about heat.

Phono stage not validated. It exists on the schematic and the board, and nowhere else yet. It will not be advertised until it survives its own test report.

Streamer — Stream One

No measurement procedure yet. We have said this before and it remains true: we will not publish source performance graphs until the procedure is public and defensible. Architecture documentation is the interim substitute.

The data itself

Everything currently in the measurement archives is synthetic sample data — clearly labelled, watermarked and un-indexed. The single biggest “limitation” of this site is that distinction; the single biggest milestone ahead is replacing those files with calibrated bench measurements.

Why publish this

Because the alternative is to publish nothing until everything is perfect, and then claim it always was. We would rather you watch the delta.
